For a good turkey season and a hopefully big bird you must do everything right. I learned this from a very nice lady named Mandy from the NWTF team.
For one thing you must have the proper choke and gun. If you have a bird close and have a slate or box call you probably will learn that it is better to have a nother person with you or just to get a diafram. Turkeys are so alert and can spook if they see your eye even move. Also you must make sure that your bird has a beard most of the time. My dads friend got his first bird and in indiana your bird must be a jake or gobbler. No hens. Well my dads friends bird had an 8 inch beard but when he was cleaning it an egg popped out. He didnt get in trouble because he made sure it had a beard.
